You will probably find every Makeup Artist has their own style which is why it is important to do research before you make a decision on who would like to book.
I personally do not believe that booking someone should come down to pricing as they may not produce the look you desire so looking at portfolios is definitely going to be key before making your final decision. Some professionals focus more on the eyes and make that “their thing” whereas some focus on creating an amazing base to make it look as flawless as possible. I heavily invest into my base products and it is probably where the majority of money is spent on my kit.
This may seem overkill but I usually buy 5 different foundation brands to cover all aspects of everyone’s skin type as well as preferred finish by the client. Some women like to have a dewy finish whereas some prefer matte.
Concealers is another area that I choose to invest in, although technically a separate product I still class it as part of the base so I like to ensure I carry good quality products.
Overall I would say my style is natural, I like to enhance the eyes with subtle eyeshadows and eyeliner, groom the brows to frame the face as this is really important in bringing the whole look together.
I must admit it has taken me a few years to really settle on my style and where my main focus is but it really made sense to me to focus on the base as I am really into skincare and looking after my own skin. I always carry skincare in my kit as I always prep my clients skin before makeup application.
I love talking skincare and giving advice with ways you could improve or start your own routine in the lead up to your wedding day.
