How Do I Prepare For My Makeup Trial?

What Do You Need To Consider For Your Wedding Makeup Trial?

When you have never planned a wedding before, it can be quite daunting to know what the steps are for each supplier, what questions to ask, or what you need to prepare. This post is a way to help you prepare for your makeup trial and learn how to get the most out of it.

Prepare yourself with these 5 trial tips.

1: Cleanse with your usual morning cleanser in preparation.

2: Come with no makeup on, though please do not feel pressured to do so if you are uncomfortable.

3: Bring pictures of makeup looks you like; it is good to get an idea of how you are envisioning your look.

4: If you plan to wear a fake tan on your wedding day, it's a good idea to have the same done for the trial so you can get a true reflection of how you will look.

5: Wear a cream or ivory-coloured top; this will give you a true view of the colours on your face. Other colours can distort the way the makeup looks.

How do I prepare my skin for a makeup trial?

If you are booking your makeup many months ahead of the wedding, it would be ideal to assess your current skincare routine. Although advice can be provided during the trial regarding your skin, trials normally take place 2-3 months before the wedding, so there is limited time to find your perfect routine.

My best advice for getting a great routine in place would be to follow a simple routine such as:

  1. Cleanse morning and night.

  2. Apply a hydrating face serum in the morning; look for the ingredient hyaluronic acid.

  3. Exfoliate once a week.

  4. Moisturise daily.

  5. Apply SPF daily to protect your skin.

4 Questions To Ask

1: Is there anything I should do to prepare my skin in the weeks before the wedding?

2: I am not sure how I would like my makeup; would you be able to create something that looks good on me?

3: How long will the makeup take on the day? How will this affect the hairstylist?

4: How long will you be staying on the wedding day?

5 Conversations To Have

1: Your current skincare routine. Whether it is vast or small, be honest about what you currently do and use

2: Talk about your likes and dislikes when it comes to makeup. It is good to know where the line is and what you are most comfortable with

3: Talk about your wedding; give us a sense of your day, the overall look and vibe; pictures of your dress are a good idea too. We generally love to hear about your plans and how we can tie your makeup into the style

4: Talk about any concerns you have—for example, if you are prone to breakouts or if you have any sensitive skin you are worried about

5: Be honest; if you don't like something, let us know!
